DM25 - Public rights of way, pedestrian & cycle routes

The Council supports policy DM25 and the promotion of sustainable and healthy personal transport in the form of walking and cycling and related defined routes. We also support the principle of strategic cycle routes including that shown in the parish under Schedule 6. However, it needs to be appreciated that the old railway line between Congresbury and Blagdon, particularly where it runs through this parish, is no longer a disused railway but land largely now in varied private use. This land is potentially unavailable for any alternative use, including as a cycle route. Also, it should be noted that a bridge is missing where the railway crossed the river Yeo to the west of Wrington and any replacement would incur significant costs.
