Comment | I strongly support the need to reopen the railway between Portishead and Bristol for passenger traffic, and I compliment the N.Somerset Council for keeping that option open by safeguarding the land. Option 1 is clearly the best site for the station, being accessible to people from both "old" and "new" Portishead and close to the shops and harbour. It has the further advantage of keeping the station and its car park away from houses, minimising noise problems. It is also the place people coming to Portishead would wish to alight. I agree with Mr.Sumerell's comments on a level crossing and this should be pursued vigorously with Network Rail. Failing that it would be worth building the overpass to get the right long-term solution. Option 2 is a poor second and option 3 does not address the needs. |
