The North West Nailsea Protection Group strongly support Nailsea Town Council’s request for a greenbelt review. The Town Council has attempted, over many years, to have the bite of land at north east Nailsea taken out of the Green belt. It needs to be recognised that the green belt boundary around that bite was initially too tightly drawn around the town’s urban boundary preventing uses of the bite that would make the town more sustainable.

When Nailsea’s age structure is allowed to settle down the town’s population will recover to a level that supports the town’s existing services with only minimal development. Consequently the scale of development available at north east Nailsea, together with the site’s better access to Bristol via the B3130, make it much more appropriate than the excessive scale of development with difficult access proposed for the fields at north west Nailsea (policy NA2).
