Common sense must prevail and the new station should be built at the proposed location next to Waitrose. Any extra cost involved for building a bridge should be paid for by self interested greedy developers.

Policy PH3: Proposed Railway Stations and Transport Infrastructure for the Portishead to Bristol Railway Line
We support the reopening of the Portishead to Bristol railway line and agree with the safeguarding of appropriate sites/land on the Proposals Map. Of the locations safeguarded for the Portishead Railway Station we believe that the Harbour Road or Quays Avenue sites would be preferable.

I strongly support the need to reopen the railway between Portishead and Bristol for passenger traffic, and I compliment the N.Somerset Council for keeping that option open by safeguarding the land.
Option 1 is clearly the best site for the station, being accessible to people from both "old" and "new" Portishead and close to the shops and harbour. It has the further advantage of keeping the station and its car park away from houses, minimising noise problems. It is also the place people coming

In response to the consultation regarding the 3 potential train station locations in Portishead I would like to raise the following concerns.
Living in close proximity to the proposed railway line, I moved to the area with the full knowledge that there were plans to potentially re-open it. However, I find that the station proposals of both options 2 and 3 disappointing and concerning.
The location of option 3 goes against the objectives of the whole railway project. Its purpose was to connect

"The road over railway bridge would entail replacing the existing roundabout at Quays Avenue, Phoenix Way & Harbour Road, with an elevated signal controlled T junction. This would have a visual and environmental impact on a number of residential properties adjacent to Quays Avenue and retirement apartments on Harbour Road. The estimated cost of the road bridge is £6m. The road over railway bridge would mean the roads and pavements would entail gradients that some people may find more difficult t

I would like to make a better case for the station to be located as per Option 1. I don't think the design that is currently shown has been given any real thought. All the existing track will have to be replaced as it is unsuitable - therefore the vertical alignment of the track can be amended either up or down. If there was enough leeway to take the track up enough then the railway could go over the road, with the road level being reduced significantly to go under. The track is currently the hi

The problems of getting the railway to somewhere it can be useful to the people of Portishead are perhaps predictable. They must surely urge a re-look at the use of buses along the railway corridor rather than trains.
The argument against the railway has always been that it does not go from (or arrive at) the place that people want to be. This means that users will either have to use public transport or their own vehicle to get to the railway. On arrival, they will have to use public transport

Option 3 | 19 Apr 2013 | Sites and Policies Plan Consultation Draft Clevedon, Nailsea and Portishead PH3
Option 3 is The only option to Stop more conjestion around the village quarter and Harbour Road/ Waitrose Carpark etc..Most people will Drive or be dropped off by bus or car at which ever station is chosen. Option 3 will attract users from Clevedon and other areAs which is good For running costs. There is no reason why a bus can't take passengers onfoot to the high st. Temple Meads station is a good walk from Bristol centre And Nailsea train station is a good walk or bus ride from Nailsea So the

My comment on the proposed Portishead railway
My first visit to Portishead was by train - in 1955 at the age of 7. My family moved here shortly after and I was brought up here until I moved away in 1966 but my parents lived here ever since 1955. I have moved back in the last 3 years.
Obviously huge changes have occurred in Portishead in that time and I have watched them with interest. The population has grown from almost 5000 to over 22000.
I have followed the progress of the proposed develop
