COMMENT - Protection of Sport & Recreation including playing fields Policy SP1 - Presumption in favour of sustainable development Policy DM71 - Ensuring safe & healthy communities Sport England acknowledges that the NPPF is promoting "sustainable development" to avoid delays in the planning process (linked to economic growth) and this is reflected in Council Policy SP1. We support Policies DM71 and DM72 in principle as it is important that venues are available to enable participation in cultural activities for intrinsic and instrumental value to an individual and for communities by bringing people together. Local facilities, whether publicly or privately owned, can be subject to development pressures
