Policy DM 30: Off-airport car parking
We generally support and welcome policy DM30 but we are concerned that without an upper limit on car parking spaces the policy could result in perverse results if applied to larger overnight accommodation establishments, such as hotels. The policy is intended to apply to guest houses and bed and breakfasts and therefore it should be subject to an appropriate maximum limit of, say, 15 car parking spaces. Suitable off airport parking should be actively encouraged to provide a shuttle service to and from the airport thereby reducing the need to increase parking in the already traffic congested roads to and from the airport.
