Policy DM28 Parking Standards
- We have provided comments in response to the Parking Standards SPD which is also currently issued for consultation. The Phase 2 scheme at Locking Parklands has considered the standards that followed the July 2010 Halcrow report. The standards result in a lower density of development which will have implications for delivering the density of development proposed within the strategic sites.

Parking
There should be no exceptions to our standards regardless of status, residential, non residential or low cost.
Non residential should not be able to rely on a travel plan and must show a more robust arrangement if they do not meet the required standards.

Parking provision in any new development is important. The Town Council is also concerned by the impact of parking issues as a result of the conversion of garages for residential use.

Parking - important to note that Esplanade is not same as Clevedon seafront or WsM - different parking behaviour. Important to not penalise/prevent casual/short-term visitors (dog walkers, visitors), and pool/cafe users. Any 'exception' must be carefully thought through and backed up by realistic research/surveys.
