DM12 Mendip Hills AONB - we broadly support this policy but advise a reference to the AONB Management Plan would help to ensure proposed development takes account of AONB objectives.

This SPD is listed under "Other documents" in DM19 but it is not listed as an SPD in the Council's Local Development Framework web page http://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/Environment/Planning+policy/Local+Development+Framework. Has that document been formally adopted as an SPD in the LDF.

We welcome the inclusion of proposed policy DM12 aimed at conserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the designated landscape. We are pleased to note that the policy specifically refers to protecting views to and from the AONB which is an important consideration when assessing development proposals beyond the AONB but within its setting.
It is strongly suggested, however, that the policy and supporting text should also make specific reference to the AONB Management Plan and require that all
