I strongly support the designations of Strategic Gaps under policy DM48. In particular I support the protection of the gaps between Nailsea and Backwell and between Yatton and Congresbury. Both areas identified fulfill a vital role in enabling the settlements on either side to maintain an integrity and distinctiveness of their own, as well as performing a valuable landscape and recreational purpose, notably for the Nailsea/Backwell Gap for the setting of Backwell Lake and for the Yatton/Congresb

Strategic Gap
What is the strategy behind having a Strategic Gap. There should be a good reason why there should be a gap at this point between Nailsea and Backwell. This is not explained.
I think there would definitely be a reason in having a strategic gap between Causeway View and Tickenham Church and the village of Tickenham and Stone Edge Batch. This area has some of the older buildings and charm of unspoilt rural Somerset. There is also a flood plain here, a very narrow road which crosses
