Recognise the need for more housing, and the contribution required from the Nailsea area. Support the preservation of green spaces and the preservation of gaps between the town and other villages. Concerned regarding any proposal that encroaches into Green Belt at the north of the town.

Disappointed to hear valley between Nailsea and Tower House woods mooted for housing - designated Green Belt and vital community green space. Building would remove the green space between Nailsea and Wraxall - a flood risk area and wonderful space for wildlife. B3130 to Wraxall is busy and runs past a primary school so pushing more traffic this way seems unnecessary when there are better sites for housing closer to the station, A370 and Nailsea town centre.

Increasing the volume of traffic flow throw W4 and then out at W5 would produce a build up of traffic at either end even perhaps inadvertently restrict the traffic through the Village. These short term proposals should be thrown out in favour of that long time suggestion (about 40 + years or so) to connect Nailsea to the Clevedon M5 junction with a by pass and not let the issue of "which side of the Church" quite literally get in the way on the correct decision.

Object to JSP's proposed road from Hanham Way, Nailsea to B3130, joining near Washing Pound Lane, Tickenham. Traffic at present, including HGV's and Farm and Emergency services, is too much let alone an increase. Object to any further increase of vehicles using Tickenham from proposed housing developments in Nailsea. Reinstate road previously proposed from Nailsea Wall to Junction 20.

Supports main concept diagram, but strategic gap must be reviewed.

If growth needed at Nailsea/Backwell, develop south/west of Nailsea, next to good transport links - A370 and station - latter should enable residents to commute to Bristol. Opposes loss of Green Belt north/east of Nailsea - no exceptional circumstances; JSP assessment considers it in the top ca. 20%; prevents merger of Nailsea/Wraxall, safeguards the valley and protects historic Wraxall. Replacement Green Belt not possible - each area assessed on merits. Land is low lying and prone to flooding.

In summary, we support the SDL at South West Nailsea.
However, we object to the exclusion of the northern and south-eastern part of our site and request that these areas are also included within the growth area allocation. We also promote the allocation of a continuous area of land at south west Nailsea (devoid of any gaps) that will support an integrated approach to be taken to development, access routes and green infrastructure across the whole site.

There is some merit in Alternative Scenario 1 in terms of both placemaking principles and a delivery-focused strategy. Alternative Scenario 1 is also to be preferred in terms of deliverability, and in particular the facility to bring forward early phases of development. The masterplan associated with the outline application for land north of Youngwood Lane would dovetail well with Alternative Scenario 1.
