Schedule 6

Schedule to policy DM25-Proposed Strategic Cycle Routes

Where NSC proposals create new crossings over main rivers or on flood defences we would stipulate that these must not increase flood risk or impact on our operational duties. We have particular interest on the Marshalls field section at Clevedon as it is running on top of the tidal defence, and also the section of cycle-path running along the Blind Yeo as we are the landowner. We would wish to make further comments when additional information is forthcoming.

However, for guidance we would stipulate that:

1)     Early engagement is required.

2)     Where the scheme tracks along a flood defence it must not compromise the crest height or its overall function.

3)     Suitable material must be used to allow our operational machines to continue to operate and gain access along the defence.

4)     We will not be held liable for any damage to the paths or street furniture. Where we are the landowner appropriate health and safety assessments will be required.

5)     Flood defence consent will be required for works in, over, under or within 8m of a main river or where it impacts on a flood defence.
