The reference to specific areas of land for different uses should be replaced by a general comment on "community uses" and delete the reference to a "church", as this would still come under the description of community use but is unnecessarily prescriptive. The list of Places of Worship in Schedule 4 needs to be amended.

The Town Council requests the following areas are defined as local green space (see map).

 

1.     GAULACRE FIELDS

Area west of Engine Lane defining the western limits of the urban area, which is of strategic value on planning grounds.

 

2.     ENGINE LANE

Land to the north of Gaulacre Fields used for sport and recreation.

 

3.     ENGINE LANE ALLOTMENTS & HANNAH MORE PARK

Recreationally important and a barrier to the industrial area to the north.

 

4.     RHYNE VIEW OPEN SPACE

Recreational space within a housing area.

 

5.     FRYTH WAY FOOTBALL FIELD

Recreational use to be incorporated into any North West Nailsea development.

 

6.     NIGHTINGALE GARDENS

Linear open space west of Clevedon Road to Nightingale Gardens.

 

7.     JACKLANDS BRIDGE TO MOOREND SPOUT (PART IN TICKENHAM PARISH)

Private land with conservation and amenity value.

 

8.     GREENFIELD CRESCENT

Existing football field with potential for recreation provision to east and west.  All within Green Belt protection. This land is in Wraxall parish with access from Nailsea.

 

9.     STOCKWAY NORTH NATURE RESERVE

 

10.  STOCKWAY NORTH GARDEN OF REST AND EXTENSION

Open land complementing the Nature Reserve site.

 

11.  GLASSWORKS SITE

Scheduled Ancient Monument on land in public ownership with potential to become public open space.

 

12.  MILLENNIUM PARK

Major public open space with recreational provision.

 

13.   THE HAMLET, OFF LODGE LANE

Private land of amenity value.

 

14.   LAND AT THE JUNCTION OF BLACKTHORN WAY AND NAILSEA PARK (referred to as Nailsea Park in Schedule 5)

Informal recreational open space.

 

15.   HAWTHORN WAY (referred to as Land East of Hawthorn Way in Schedule 5)

Informal public open space of important amenity value.

 

16.  MIDDLE ENGINE PIT

Open area of local heritage interest, with possible future access for recreation.

 

17.   GOLDEN VALLEY

School playing fields and informal open space.

 

18.  LAND TO THE REAR OF 60 STATION ROAD

Private land of amenity value adjacent to Nowhere Wood access.

 

19.  LAND AT NOWHERE LANE AT EAST END

Private land of local amenity value at entrance to but separate from Nowhere Wood.

 

20.  TRENDLEWOOD PARK (identified in Schedule 5 as the following areas: Land West of Trendlewood Way, opposite Cedar Close; Land west of Trendlewood Way, near St Francis School, Land at Chelvey Rise, Land at Turnbury Avenue and Nowhere Wood)

An interrelated series of open space and amenity areas all under the care of ‘Friends of Trendlewood’ (see map).

 

21.  CROQUET LAWN, NORTH OF AVENING CLOSE

Private land of recreational and amenity value.

 

22.   MIZZYMEAD CLUB

Recreational amenity in private ownership.

 

23.   WHITESFIELD ROAD ALLOTMENTS

Recreational site used as allotments.  Amenity open area in the centre of a built-up area.

 

24.  CHURCH LANE CEMETERY

Open area in potential conservation area.

 

25.   THE GROVE PLAYING FIELD

Recreational sports grounds with informal open space to the south. 

 

26.   MORGANS HILL

Privately owned open hill top land used as informal recreational area.

 

27.   THE PERRINGS

Privately owned open space with some recreation facility. 

 

28.  LAND TO THE WEST OF BUCKLANDS END

Also to include Nature Conservation field (Nettcotts Meadow) to the south leading to Backwell Lake.

 

29.  CORNER OF BUCKLANDS GROVE/STATION ROAD

Land of amenity value at the entrance to the Town.
