Green Belt.

There is an opportunity for a building of outstanding design to be built in the Green Belt but the LPA do not retain an Architect to be able to make that judgement.

The Planning Inspectorate have some Inspectors who are qualified as Architects but do not send such a qualified Inspector in all cases. In the case, attached, a Planning Inspector qualified as a planner made his decision.

Planning permission was sought for the last Frank Lloyd Wright design to be built in the World. The only one in Europe is in Ireland. Frank Lloyd Wright was born in Wales.

The Inspector's logic was that as the design was penned in 1950 that it could not now be novel and I quote; At the time of its conception the design may have been considered to be highly innovative and exceptional”

“If the design had been built in 1950 then it would not be novel today - HOWERVER THIS DESIGN WAS NOT BUILT SO THEREFORE IT IS STILL NOVEL”

[This situation is similar to Leonardo da Vinci designing the helicopter in 1485. The design was still novel in 1940, 545 years later, when helicopters first flew.  http://www.da-vinci-inventions.com/aerial-screw.aspx]

The design submitted was by Frank Lloyd Wright at the height of his powers and a previous well know design is attached.

We therefore request that you instruct N-Somerset's plan to take weight of International works of art/dwellings and use South West Design Review Panel, or similar, to determine if Architecture is outstanding enough to qualify for a Green Belt exception.

It would be great if this could be expedited as a huge honour to our Country.
