The Sites already allocated, Hallam and Perssimon need to be properly joined up with these proposed allocations in order for a coherent development to be formed that can principally be served from the large Arnolds Way roundabout. All sites need to be joined to the Multi-use pathways proposed along both sides of Northend. The above needs to be achieved by agreement and conditioned so that all talk of “ransom strips” is avoided.


The descriptions below need to be read with the relevant plans. Landowner approval has been gained for the proposals apart from path routes shown dotted and these will be consulted on over the coming weeks.

  Site “B” Chestnut Farm , Yatton


4 acres with housing or pp for housing on 3 sides.


Located adjacent the Hallam development site, for which pp granted in outline at Feb P&R.


The land is elevated and of similar character to the Hallam site. It is proposed that some of this land be allocated for small self build homes, an area of housing development in short supply in N Som. The owners are also keen to see starter housing for locally employed workers, particularly those working in agriculture. The general approach would be to have good-sized plots and allotments to provide proper living spaces and hopefully grow a few carrots.


The owner has already developed the barns on the land into housing.


The site borders land to the North that can be made available as “Access Land” i.e the public can walk their dogs etc, but the land will still be farmed and no cost will accrue to third parties for its upkeep. Some form of storm water attenuation pond can also be included in this ground. Also within the access land is a 5 acre field of raised ground which could accommodate a formal play area for all the proposed housing on this side of Northend Road.


The site is adjoined by the proposed North side Multi Use Pathway, which will safely connect all residential areas along this side of Northend Road, to the Station and Village at one end and the Sports Ground, Community facilities, café and shops, at the other.


The land could be accessed directly from Northend Road or through the Hallam site.
