Site Allocations Plan March 2016 - Nailsea

On the issue of the proposed large scale housing plans in SW Nailsea. Having read many of the letters already on your site its clear we are all making similar points about these plans. The major issue is clearly and obviously the road infrastructure.

As there is little employment in Nailsea most new home owners will have to commute and that as everyone knows is the issue. By choosing the SW side of Nailsea you have chosen the least accessible part of the town to the main exit routes.     Can't imagine why, was a pin involved?

I was going to comment at length about the road network but A Oliver's letter and others cover this well. Whichever way that traffic goes, be it through the lanes to the A370, over the Causeway to join the queue on the Tickenham Rd (wonder what the Tickenham residents feel about this?) or just battling through Nailsea to the B3130 or to Backwell it seems an inappropriate position to build this many houses. Just to add that with its current volume of traffic the Causeway must already be close to being a dangerous road at peak times. I would imagine that the proposed increase in traffic could push that beyond the limit (whatever that is).

Whatever logic was used to plan Nailsea over the years the result is that we now have a small town whose current layout and geographical position clearly do not invite any major expansion. There could be a small number of sites in Nailsea which may be suited to small scale development one of which is the derelict site of the former Garden Centre on the Clevedon Rd.

Thanks for taking the time to read this amongst all the rest!
