Comment | Martyn Leisure supports the Council's general approach to tourism. However, it is considered that the policy is not sufficiently clear in that which it is supporting and promoting across North Somerset. We request that the wording of the policy be amended to make clear that, in being a tourism policy it refers to tourist facilities. It is requested that the policy be reworded, deleting "Visitor facilities and accommodation will be supported across the district provided they:" and inserting "Both new and improved visitor and tourist facilities and accommodation will be supported across the district provided they:"; also changing "there are no adverse implications" to "have no adverse implications". Further, para. 3.30 should also be amended to recognise: - the continued importance given over to existing tourist facilities in North Somerset - that existing facilities in North Somerset will be supported - that, in accordance with PPS4, the expansion of tourism facilities will be supported in rural areas (either in, or on the edge of settlements). |
