4.69 - At present, it is too early to decide/determine the mix of children & young people's services that will be required for the new development. This will very much depend upon the type, mix and phasing of developments. The size and nature of schools should be determined with regard to visions of proposers (LA, Diocese, parent groups etc.). This could include smaller, 210 place schools. Therefore, the 'stock' of schools should be the equivalent of 6 x 420 place schools, but possibly made up of a mixture of 210 and 420 place schools. In addition, having regard to likely developments in the secondary school sector in and around Weston super Mare, careful consideration will need to be given to the size and location of provision. Other alternatives to new builds should also be considered such as expansion and/or relocation of existing provision.

4.72 - As part of government strategy, we would wish to see extended schools facilities at all new school sites. In terms of schools sites, we would not wish to see land allocations limited/reduced as a result of offering pre-school/extended schools facilities.
