Weston-super-Mare is singularly identified as the sub-regional centre within North Somerset. It is identified to accommodate the majority of new comparison and convenience retailing (both central and non-central) within the District to 2021.
The provision of major new retail development will now need to meet the 'sequential' and various 'impact' tests as now set down within the newly published PPS4 (29 December 2009) and this is recognised in the CS by highlighting a number of sites within the Town Centre or adjacent to it which can accommodate new retail proposals.
Suggested Amendment: Need for policy to reflect 'sequential' and 'impact' tests set down in PPS4.
