Wrington is another service village with issues requiring further assessment before further development can occur; (CA with no. of listed buildings. Barley Wood historic park and garden to east is close enough to be potentialy affected.)

Important to consider historic environment and impact which major transport infrastructure proposals can have. The DPD should clarify when national guidance should be used to inform development and how it will be applied to assess it. Rapid transit routes raise major issues in how historic structures like bridges may be treated/adapted and incorporated without harming their historic significance. Associated public realm needs careful management; New roads and by passess too.

We base our assessment with regard to government policy and advice. Support the emphasis /commitments throughout document recognising North Somerset has broad rich spectrum of historic assets. Some significant adjustments re historic environment evidence since the ISO stage, and we look forward to working in partnership with you to support delivery of most of the Strategy's ambitions. Pleased to see strong thread throughout document indicating historic environment has been considered.

Principle of this proposal is not an issue. We wish to understand more of the SAM's setting and ensure a larger historic landscape than the monument itself is preserved. Could also include the adjacent listed farmhouse. Energy centre could have tall chimneys that may dominate the surrounding area. Impact analysis will need to occur through master planning so that full impact of such structures on the historic environment can be understood, and appropriate mitigation put in place.

We wish to ensure the effectiveness of such a major development. Master plan will need to examine the special characteristics of this part of the district. Character will be determined by analysis of settlement pattern, form, relationship to landscape, built and natral heritage etc. Changes to area should be informed by understanding of environmental capacity. Core Strategy should determine what evidence has been gathered to determine character.

Reassuring that this vision now refers to retention of town's historic identity that should enrich future regeneration of the town as a tourist destination.

Accept principle of spreading development around plan area, but have some concerns on impact of potential small scale growth on some of the villages identified. You need to be able to demonstrate the environmental capacity of these settlements. They will have characteristics which help influence the form of future development within them, (conservation areas or not). Views expressed in VIS7 should also apply to this vision re identity.
