I would like to communicate my views on the options for portishead railway station.

The national planning policy framework outlines the purpose of green belt protection.

To check the unrestricted sprawl of large built up areas

To assist in safeguarding the countryside from encroachment

To assist in urban regeneration by encouraging the recycling of urban / derelict land.

Option 3 is in direct contravention of these objectives.

Why are you considering using green belt land when a perfectly valid town centre site exists.

It surely can't be for economic reasons as the venture is already acknowledged to be loss making. If economics is a driving factor, the only sensible option is not to progress with the railway at all.

The stated objectives of the railway are not delivered by option 3. This would be a fudged solution on a significant capital investment.

Either deliver the stated objectives or don't deliver at all and invest the money in something else which does deliver. Alternatively, how about not making the expenditure to help address the budgetary deficits we read about every day.
