I strongly support the aim to meet the provision of 17750 new dwellings by 2026 and not the 26750 specified by RSS.

Employment development on sites within the urban area will not necessarily be employment-led in the same way as the urban extension. Suggested amendment: Recognition that the employment element of sites within Weston Urban Area can be met from non Class B uses, ie retail/hotel/leisure, etc.

It must be recognised that the planned delivery of new housing on urban extensions is likely to be slow to deliver the estimated number of new homes, and therefore increased reliance will need to be placed upon available and deliverable sites within Weston's urban area, and which together are likely to significantly help to deliver new homes within the urban area, that vastly exceed the 3,000 new homes identified within the CS.

Housing growth is based on projections that seem unrealistic, given that historical population growth and housing demand has been based on economic migration, which is not likely to be sustained for the next twenty years unless there are some significant new employment opportunities developed here first. What are those going to be, and how will they help to "sustain" the rural environment and its character?
