I object to development of land behind the Uplands for the following reasons:

1. The land is used as a public open space. I have lived in a bungalow adjacent to the land since 1992 to present. In that time I have witnessed the land being used regularly by large numbers of people from the whole of Nailsea (not just the West End) for diverse activities including dog walking, running, walking and the playing of ball games.

2. Vehicular access to the Uplands is quite difficult. In general, traffic in the West End has, since 1992, become very noticeably heavier to the extent that it has begun to feel overcrowded and congested. The lanes around the West End now regularly suffer from 'bottlenecks' and no longer appear safe for horse riders or cyclists.

3. A significant attraction to visitors to the land is the open aspect and view afforded while enjoying the use of the land, together with the abundant wildlife, plants and trees.

4. Development of the land will change the character and feel of the Uplands and the West End from rural to urban.

5. Since 1992 there has been a very considerable and noticeable overloading of the amenities and facilities in Nailsea. The proposed development can only make matters worse.
