Fully support proposed designation to protect Farleigh Fields

BRA fully supports the proposed designation of LGS for Backwell Lake

BRA supports the designation of the two fields forming a “T” shape as shown on the plan. 2 main reasons are given on the draft plan for such designation. BRA considers these are inadequate and should also include “recreational value.”

BRA proposes that, contrary to NSC’s suggestion that no parts of the Moor Lane Fields are worthy of LGS designation, that this contention is incorrect and inconsistent with the Examiner’s report and locally produced evidence, and should therefore be re-visited. The draft BNP proposed a total of 12 Moor Lane Fields (see plan). BRA now proposes the designation of a much smaller area, comprising Fields 12, 13, 18 and a small part of 14 to be designated as LGS

The Council supports the proposed designation of Local Green Space (LGS) at Backwell Lake.

Backwell Parish Council requests that both the Landscape and Recreational importance of Farleigh Fields be formally recorded in the Site Allocation Plan.

Backwell Parish Council requests that North Somerset Council reviews the extensive evidence (in the draft Neighbourhood Plan) that supports the allocation of additional areas at Farleigh Fields as LGS.

BPC considers that fields 12, 13, and 18 together with the Field 14 link should form an integral Local Green Space linking the existing Playing Fields with Moor Lane. This area is served by existing public footpaths which facilitate recreational walking and enjoyment of the extensive views across the adjacent fields .Backwell Parish Council recommends that fields 12,13, 18 and the field 14 link (shown in yellow on the above map) are Local Green Space in the Site Allocation
