DP18: Parking 4.8. Policy DP18 concerns vehicle and cycle parking. It requires appropriate levels on parking within developments where it can be demonstrated that it would not compromise highway safety. Moreover, it supports sustainable transport measures such as car clubs, active travel measures such as cycle parking provision and also electric vehicle provision. 4.9. This policy is supported.

It is very difficult to get into many parts of Bristol without a car.
It is worth remembering that there will be petrol and diesel cars well into the 2050s.

As stated in the Policy reduced provision for parking in highly accessible locations is desirable. Where there are highly accessible CPZs the issue can be addressed by including in planning permissions a requirement that no residents will be eligible for residents' parking permits. All owners, leaseholders and tenants would be aware of this before signing contracts. This is now common in London.
