Where public transport is more expensive, infrequent and massively less convenient than private car usage, people will prefer to drive. The Local Plan needs to offer a plan to improve reliability, frequency, weekend running and reduce costs of bus and train transport - potentially at the expense of developers who stand to profit from housebuilding.

CPC supports this policy. It hopes that it will be implemented with suitable scrutiny taking into consideration the appropriate length of the journey and timetabling to ensure that its use is encouraged. Currently the times are infrequent and the journey too long to attract residents away from car use.

Support the requirement that "All residential development to be within reasonable distance of a direct and frequent bus service..." Vital to reduce need for car usage.

CPC supports this policy. It is a great shame that there is not an option to simply support and not have to make a comment each time.

Accessibility to bus stops must reach the required standard for both directions, so a bus stop on the opposite side of a busy road should only be appropriate if there is a nearby safe crossing of a form dependent on the nature of the road.
Currently this Policy would prohibit virtually all development as bus frequencies do not reach the desired standard. Even the most frequent bus in North Somerset (X1) runs every 20mins but the Policy refers to every 15min. Is it realistic?

Supports accessibility, aspirations are contradicted by North Somerset Council's future plans to cut support for community transport.

Nailsea Town Council is supportive of this policy but fears that without funding this policy is just an aspiration.
